Paris, France 11/21/19

Updated: Dec 2, 2020

Chipotle and wine in front of the Eiffel tower is easier said than done. I know for most people Chipotle is not top of the list for things to eat in Paris, but for a couple of young American girls who have been deprived of it for the last three months it was. Rachel and I decided to spend our first night in Paris grabbing a couple of bottles of wine picking up some Chipotle and sitting in front of the Eiffel tower. Our plan seemed full proof, but little did we know, the nearest Chipotle was a forty minute walk and was located inside the largest mall in Paris. We had picked up the wine first and had to get through the security check at the door in order to get the Chipotle and we were unsure of what the malls policy was on brining in bottles of wine. So with Wine hidden under our coats we made our way through security check, and some how passed. We took our burritos back to the Eiffel Tower and sat on a park bench until all hours of the night.

We were pretty exhausted upon arriving to Paris and decided not to over book ourselves. We slept in the first morning, and went for crepes when we woke, ordering both and a savory. We spent the rest of the day just wandering the city with no agenda whatsoever. We went to the big arch and did a little shopping along the way. We got begets and ate them in a park. That afternoon my friend Sierra arrived from Greece with her roommate Alexandra and Rachels closest friend from school Leah. We again drank wine in front of the Eiffel Tower that evening. A friend of mine from high school who was studying in France, was also in Paris for the weekend so we met with her group for dinner. That is where I tried snails for the first time. I expected them to be kind of chewy, but they were more like eating clams something I had grown very familiar with after our many trips to the coastal cities early on in our trip. The group we were with was planning on hitting a few bars and a night club after dinner but Rachel and I were far too tired so we made our way back our hotel. We were staying at a place called (fill in). It was a very nice hotel located only a block or two from the Eiffel Tower. It wasn't a very large hotel but the rooms were nice and clean, and we felt safe there as the person working the desk always confirmed our names and that we were staying there before letting us upstairs.

The next day we again just roamed the streets. We did not go to the Louvre or whatever else you are supposed to do in Paris we simply got some more begets and some macaroons, and some French Onion soup, and ate Pizza Hut for dinner (a sin considering we lived in Trastrevre, the pizza capital of the world). That was our last night there and we decided to yet again all again drank wine by the Eiffel Tower and caught up on life. This was by no means a traditional trip to Paris but I thought it was perfect. I had been missing home quite a bit and being with old friends gave me that little taste of home I was craving, or maybe that was the ChipotleI.

Me and one of the many baguettes I ate in France.
